Harry Winks – Visits our St Albans Academy
Last night, our St Albans Head coach, Dean Austin, organised a very special Christmas surprise for the players attending our weekly Monday night session. Players arrived for their normal training session on a cold December evening and were amazed to see Tottenham and England superstar, Harry Winks, watching them play.
Dean, who is currently assistant manager at Northampton Town, had been so impressed by the application and commitment the players have shown since the new academy session launched in March, he wanted to give them a Christmas surprise they would never forget.
“The players have been fantastic all year, so I wanted to give them a special surprise as a thank you for all of their hard work and support for our new academy. I have known Harry for a number of years, so when I asked him if he would do me a favour and come down to wish the players a Happy Christmas, he didn’t hesitate and accepted straight away.”
Although Harry has seen a dramatic rise in his football career over the last year and is on course to be on the plane to Russia to represent England at the World Cup next summer, he proved that he is a class act both on and off the field and was only too happy to mix with the players, answer questions and pose for photos.
Dean, Jess and the whole of the St Albans Volenti Academy team would like to wish all the players and their families and very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.
